Do you know how Executives have Personal Assistants? The role of the Assistant is to let some calls in and others out, as well as letting some people in while filtering out others, so the Executive can work effectively. Whether you realize it or not, you have you very own Personal Assistant too! We have amazing brains that are capable of “running” a multiple “programs” at a time. Our brains are constantly, assigning meaning even deleting, distorting and generalizing reality.
Right now, you are reading these words, but are you aware of your breathing? The chair you’re sitting on? The feel of the clothes you are wearing? Look around. Notice the color green in the room. How come you never noticed these things a few minutes ago? You weren’t thinking about them because your brain’s Personal Assistant was filtering out all this random stuff for you.
So how does your “Assistant” (called Reticular Activating System) know what to let in and what to shut out? It’s based on two things: your goals and your beliefs. How does knowing this help you? The great new is, you have the power to change your results. You are in control. You get to choose the meaning. You choose your goals and what you want to create (but if you have no goals, how does your Assistant know what to do?). You actually choose your beliefs, too. Many studies have shown the impacts you beliefs have on the outcomes you create. Most times, you have to believe it before you see it. Having beliefs that serve you and serve what you want to create actually changed you results. You will go from just hoping you can, to knowing you can.
Change your perception. Change your reality, and you can and will start leading the life you want and deserve to have!
